STEED FAMILY HISTORY
Frederick
Richard STEED, Trevor’s 2nd great grandfather
arrived in South Australia in 1848 on the Forfarshire. Fred was
born in Ashford, Kent in 1828 to George Steed & Mary OLIVER.
His siblings include Charles Steed (to America) Henry Oliver Steed
(to Australia) Robert James Steed (details unknown) and remaining
in England George Steed, Matilda Steed, Lydia Elizabeth KADWELL,
Mary Steed and Catherine GILES.
Frederick Richard Steed married Maria EVERSON on the 14th July, 1855 at Trinity Church Adelaide and they had
eight children-
George (1856-1867)
Frederick Richard 2nd (1858-1936), married (1) Susan Gascoine MASON and (2) Mary Jane MARTIN.
Fred jnr and Susan were Trevor’s great grandparents. They
had eight children.
Joseph Everson (1859-1938) married Julia STEPHENS and had six children
Emma Matilda (1861-1939) married George Venning PEARCE and had five children
William Henry (1863-1936) married Sarah NORMAN and had one child
Charles John (1865-1910) married Caroline Maria OCHTOMANN and had three children
Susannah (1867-1869)
Edith (1869-1903), married Frederick William OCHTOMANN (brother to Charles’ wife) and had two children
When Maria died in 1882 Frederick married Caroline MASON.
Caroline was the sister of Fred jnrs first wife, Susan Mason.
Fred snr and Caroline had one child, Carrie Clifton Steed (1885-?)
who married Frederick Christian STEINWEDEL.
