SOME OF OUR MOST BAFFLING MYSTERIES
What happened to Clara LINDRUM? We last hear
of her in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1884. Clara was the wife
of Frederick William Lindrum and the daughter of Johann WOLFF and Henrietta MEINHOFER. She was born in Germany c1843, the mother
of Frederick William LINDRUM jnr (married to Harriett ATKIN),
Clara Wilhelmina (married Joseph CARWARDINE), and Alathea (died
as a baby). After her husband’s death in 1880 Clara managed
hotels for a short while but we lose track of her by 1884.
Francis Frederick HUTTON, Trevor’s 2nd great grand uncle
was a colonial artist. In a book edited by Joan Kerr, "Dictionary
of Australian Artists, Painters, Sketchers" there is a substantial
article about him. The entry was in part attributed to John
HUTTON. We'd be delighted to know who John HUTTON is,
and how we might contact him.
What
happened to Charles BOWN? Charles was Ellen ATKIN’s first husband. We believe he went
to the Victorian goldfields in the 1850s and was not heard of
again. Did he return to England? Or die on the goldfields? Or
go to New Zealand? Or to the Californian goldfields? His father
was John BOWN and Charles was born in England
on the 25th July, 1824.
Who
are the family of the Reverend William MONEY?
He was born c1853 and married Maria RICHES. He
was vicar of various parishes including Wiggenhall St Mary the
Virgin in Norfolk (1800-1835), Curate of Framington-Pigot in Norfolk
(1774), Rector of Warham (1789) and Curate of Fordham (1794-1800).
We do not know where William and Maria married or if they had
any children who lived past infancy.
Who
was Thomas Tate WASHINGTON? Trevor’s 2nd
great grandmother, Ellen ATKIN, married Thomas
in 1869 in Adelaide, South Australia. He was born 27th July 1826
and died in March 1879 and was a labourer. We don’t know
where he came from, only that his father’s name was also
Thomas.
We'd be delighted to receive more information on: Clara LINDRUM, Francis Frederick HUTTON, Charles BOWN, Reverend William MONEY, Maria RICHES, and Thomas Tate WASHINGTON.
